The manufacturing site is located on an area of about 100,000 square meters.
Current construction area includes approx. 27,000 square meters.
Current clean room area for viral vaccine manufacturing includes about 3,500 square meters. The bacterial vaccine facility adds an additional 2,500 square meters.
The clean rooms were built by KCS of the Netherlands meeting both Chinese and European quality standards (GMP, ISO).
For the establishment of new developments in cooperation with national and international institutes and investors, 40,000 square meter extension area are still available.
Influenza vaccine is produced in a dedicated workshop while HFRS and JEV vaccines are produced on a campaign basis.
Since 2006 the clean room facility in the existing production building was extended and 3 dedicated workshops for the production of bacterial vaccines for Meningococcal/Typhoid, Diphtheria/acellular Pertussis and Tetanus were set-up.
Bacterial vaccines are produced using modern cGMP compliant fermentation technology. The operations in the fermenters are fully contained and the automatic process control minimizes the need for manual intervention. The control of all key fermentation parameters such as pH, temperature, aeration and agitation is automated.
Furthermore since 2007 a state-of-the-art bacterial vaccine filling facility including a filling line with a capacity of 18,000 vials per hour and two freeze-dryers with a capacity of 60,000 vials each, was set-up.
Each single workshop owns its dedicated, independent air system (HVAC), water loop system and decontamination units, as well as limited personnel access.
